BEGIN YOUR training JOURNEY.
Set your pup up for success! In this six-week class you will learn the basics of responsible pet ownership, and gain skills to navigating life together as a team. This program was developed by the AKC, and upon successful completion, your puppy will receive a S.T.A.R. Puppy certification through their organization. Puppies are learning every moment of every day from the time they are born. The sooner appropriate learning begins, the easier adult life becomes. This class runs for six weeks and is open to all dogs under the age of one year. If you have a rescue, approximate age is acceptable.
In this six-week course, you will prepare for the AKC Canine Good Citizen title requirements, and test on the last week. This is a great course to solidify your dog’s skill for being an exemplary member of society, regardless of testing for the title! For individuals interested in therapy work with your dog, this is a great way to start your journey of developing solid behaviors. Most therapy organizations require passing a CGC test to become a member. If your dog falls under breed specific legislation (BSL), receiving your CGC will qualify your dog to become a breed ambassador! This allows them to go in public without wearing a muzzle (certain criteria is required). Dogs must already have some basic skills; this is not a class for the initial learning phase of the included requirements.
This four-week class will give you a solid foundation for loose leash walking. I feel this skill is so important for taking our dogs out into the world without conflict or frustration. Nobody wants their dog straining at the end of the leash, and believe it or not, your dog would prefer not to do it too! I will show you how to set clear expectations, while teaching your dog to understand the boundaries of the leash. The process I use also sets a foundation for your dog learning how to keep track of you, making THEM responsible for checking in and staying close. This makes life so much easier and walks so much more enjoyable!
If you enjoy taking your dog everywhere, you should join me for this five-week class. It’s specifically designed to build the skills needed for shaping your dog into a well-mannered “sidekick”! You will gain confidence in your ability to manage your dog in busy public settings as we practice things like handler focus, leash manners, neutrality towards other dogs and people, appropriate greetings with permission, and a whole lot more! We will also work to teach our dogs how to be calm and comfortable in these bustling environments. Just like us, our dogs struggle when they are overwhelmed, so being relaxed is a huge part of dogs being able to focus on their person when asked, but more importantly, function politely without constant instructions. The easiest sidekick is one that is happy to just calmly hang with us, so join me to learn how to make that happen!
*This class is not for dogs struggling with reactivity or aggression issues. To address those behaviors, please reach out for personalized help, or guidance to a more appropriate class.
In this six-week class you will develop practical skills that include leash manners, sit, down, stay, and come. In addition to learning and solidifying cues, we will work on body awareness, confidence building, and problem-solving skills. Teaching our puppies how to be calm, comfortable, and confident while navigating our human world is extremely important. We will introduce your puppy to a variety of environments and situations, as well as practice appropriate social interactions. Youth is a critical time for development and learning, so let’s set them up for lifelong success. Join me to learn how to mold your puppy into a dog that is not only eager to listen, but truly calm and comfortable living in our busy human world.
Join me in this 5-week class to help your puppy learn to be calm and comfortable out in public. We will work on handler focus and engagement in a variety of settings. When your pup is calm and relaxed, it’s much easier for them to remain focused on you and follow your cues. I will help you learn how to read your pups emotions and adjust your training accordingly to be successful. Setting your puppy up so they can learn these skills without being overwhelmed is important! We will work on polite greetings when appropriate and help your pup learn how to stay focused on you when it’s not. This class will help you to continue developing proper socialization, without creating that unwanted “too” friendly behavior. There will be a short play session at the end of each class to allow the puppies to work on appropriate interactions, and to have fun!!
*It is recommended that you take The Perfect Puppy Program (or an equivalent class) prior to taking this course. Your puppy should have a few basic skills and previous experience in a group setting to be successful in this class.
Join me in this four-week class that is dedicated to helping you gain or maintain cooperation throughout the challenging adolescent phase! During this developmental period, young dogs are becoming more independent. Things they have listened to in the past might fall on deaf ears (like maybe that recall they performed so well when they were younger). Because their brains are still developing, frustration and overstimulation may become more intense and problematic. Young dogs are desperate to explore and experience life doing “dog things.” Let me help you keep things on the right track instead of becoming the frustrating barrier to all the things your young dog naturally finds more interesting than you! We will work on engagement, connection, cooperation, listening skill, and proper socialization!
Have fun and build confidence while strengthening your bond! This four-week class is a great way to build a connection and discover new ways to show off your dog’s skills. Teaching tricks builds a dog’s confidence, and gaining confidence can help in other areas of life. If you like, you can even test for an AKC tricks title the last week of class!
This 4-week class you will learn how to get and maintain focus and engagement from your dog through fun and games. True engagement can’t be forced. It’s a decision the dog makes to be with you. Once your dog is CHOOSING to work with you as their partner, everything else comes so much easier! This class is open to dogs of all ages and training levels, so whether you are just getting started on your journey, need to rebuild your foundation, or would simply like a more willing partner, this class is for you!
This four-week class is for dogs that are struggling with reactivity. Setting up our reactive dogs to be successful is so important for creating long term emotional changes! You will learn how to better expose your dog to triggers while keeping them under threshold. Knowing that the other dogs and their humans in this class are struggling with the same issues can help you feel less embarrassed about your dog’s behavior! This can be an important step in truly being there to support your dog’s learning. It also allows you to practice this exposure in a controlled setting. Knowing what to expect (predictability) is so impactful in successful learning, for us, and our dogs! This class will boost your confidence, improve your handling skills, and help you understand your dog, all while building a trusting relationship!
*THIS CLASS IS BY INVITE ONLY
If you would like to join this class, please reach out to schedule a private session so I can meet you and your dog. I want to be sure everyone is set up for success!
A reliable recall is a very important skill to have. Everyone wants it, but it seems elusive to some. In fact, one of the biggest complaints I hear when I first start working with people is “my dog doesn’t come when I call them.” I am here to help you change that. In this four-week class, you will learn the skills needed to motivate your dog to WANT to come to you. Just imagine how wonderful it would be for your dog run to you with enthusiasm when you call them, and it might even be easier than you think. Join me to learn how to create a rock-solid recall and have fun while you do it!
A “Pup-up” class will very between pop-ups.
